I’ve always loved barbecue sauce and had been searching for a low-carb version for quite some time. Throughout the years, a couple of brands have made a low-carb version. However, I can’t always find them.
We then experimented and created our own low-carb version of the barbeque sauce – Giraffe’s Old Fashioned Barbecue Sauce.
My husband had his own internet show – The Kevin Kuretzky Show – on YouTube and Facebook. I am therefore, sharing the video from his FB page of our low-carb barbecue sauce recipe.
This recipe is extremely simple and only takes about 10-20 minutes to prepare. The ingredients are as follows:
- 1 cup Baking Splenda
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup Reduced Sugar Ketchup
- 1 tsp. Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp. Onion Powder
- 1 tsp. Paprika
- 1 tsp. Chili Powder (or additional…to taste)
- 1 tsp. Mustard
- 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/2 tsp. Liquid Smoke
- 1 Tbsp. Apple Cider Vinegar
I begin by scooping Baking Splenda into a measuring cup. Then, I gradually add the water to the measuring cup until full. Immediately before the cup is about to overflow, I’ll turn off the water and pour into a medium sized pan.
Continue to add the remaining ingredients to the pan and stir until well blended. Bring the mixture to a boil, while periodically stirring. Once the mixture begins to boil, bring the temperature to a simmer for about 10 – 20 minutes, occasionally stirring.
Once the sauce thickens, it’s ready Freddie!
This sauce is great for dipping, marinating, or glazing whatever meat or fish dish you desire!
